We've got lots of digital resources you can read, audio books you can listen to, as well as comics and magazines that you can read online too! Libraries reopening on July 27th

Reopening

The Library service will be returning on July the 27th with Dalkeith Library the first branch to be reopened. We will open other branches as we can. 

Initially we will be operating with a reserve and collect service, meaning that you can order a selection of materials (via phone, email and online) to collect at an assigned time and you will also be able to return items to open branches.

Please keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter for updates and information will also be posted on the main council website.

There will be more information about social distancing measures and other details to follow, including any changes to opening hours etc.

Some information for Reserve and Collect customers.

Staff begin working on your request as soon as they can. They will then collect your items before contacting you to arrange a collection time, so be aware that this is not an immediate reply.

Also, if you select specific items then this will take longer and as we cannot access closed branches, there is no guarantee that we will be able to supply all individually specified items. So, to avoid disappointment and to help speed the process, please also detail a general list of items that you would be happy to receive.

You can select Dalkeith Library as well as Mobile Library stops as a collection location, we will be adding other branches and locations as we can. Look for announcements here.

The Mobile Library visits; Lasswade Centre on Mondays, Newbattle Centre on Tuesdays, Penicuik Centre on Wednesdays, and Loanhead Centre on Thursdays. It is at these locations between 10-1 and we will contact you to confirm which day you can collect your items.

No Late Fines

Don't worry about late fines - there will be no additional fines from 18 March until further notice.

Please ignore any overdue emails you receive, we are working to stop these.

You will be able to return items to open branches from July the 27th (intially Dalkeith Library)
